The building the apartments are in has Italianate styling and was built in 1860 to house the offices of Newcastle's wealthiest merchants (one Otto Frederick Ernest Bernicke, a Californian corn merchant is believed to be the first occupant).Within 20 metres of the apartment you could admire the Tyne Bridge, visit the historic buildings of the Guildhall and Bessie Surtees House, have a drink in Newcastle's oldest pub and enjoy art and lunch in the Side cafe and gallery. Within 5 minutes walk you could visit the Moot Hall, medieval Newcastle including the Castle Keep, Millennium Bridge, St Nicholas Cathedral, Sage music centre, Live Theatre and Baltic art gallery. For gastronomes within literally 2 minutes walk you could enjoy Italian, Indian , Persian, Turkish, Chinese, French, Spanish and English restaurants. There are innumerable pubs and clubs within walking distance.For the family the Discovery Museum, Centre for Life, St James Park, and the Seven Sisters children's book museum are within walking distance (or if you prefer hop one of the tourist or Quaylink buses that stop right next to the apartment).Shoppers are spoilt for choice with the attractions of Eldon Square shopping centre 5 minutes walk away and a 20 minute bus ride to the Metrocentre (the largest shopping and leisure centre in Europe). There is a Sunday market on the quayside selling local crafts, artwork, jewellery and fashion amongst other things. PLEASENOTE: Check In is from 15:00.
