About Us

The UK's National Renewable Energy Centre. Narec offers world class facilities for the testing and modelling of both renewables and their associated infrastructure. This includes a blade testing facility capable of testing blades up to 60m in length, wave test facility, tidal test facility, a fully configurable low voltage lab and a high voltage test centre. Narec also works closely with local authorities and housing associations on energy strategies for low carbon buildings and cities. The organisation is currently in the midst of a large capital build program, which will see the creation of a new blade test centre capable of testing blades up to 100m in length, a 15MW wind turbine drive train test centre, a 3MW marine drive train test centre, and an offshore wind test centre.
